What is cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy?
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy is a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy, which is recognised by the British Medical Association (BMA) and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) as being a safe and effective treatment for a range of conditions.
Although both CBT and hypnotherapy are proven to provide successful outcomes in their own right, clinical research studies have demonstrated that the combination of the two therapies results in much greater outcomes for clients. In addition, at Helpful Hypnotherapy an evidence-based approach is used.
This means that all the treatment plans are designed using proven techniques and there is none of that ‘wishy-washy’ stage hypnosis stuff. Evidence-based practice ensures that the most recent research findings are used to improve treatment outcomes, in order to provide you with safe, effective and rapid treatment. 1) Will I be in control during hypnosis?
Absolutely. Being hypnotised is like being in a very deep state of relaxation and unlike what you might have seen on TV, you cannot be made to do anything you don’t want to do. While you are in this state, you will be given positive suggestions which you must choose to accept as you are in control.
2) How many sessions will I need?
For most treatments 4-6 sessions are enough to create lasting results. The stop smoking treatment is a longer one-off 2 hour session.
3) How much does it cost?
For all treatments except Stop Smoking, sessions costs £90 each and last an hour. The stop smoking package is priced at £295 and is a one-session treatment.
4) Are you fully qualified?
Yes, I have a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Dip. CHB) and I am fully insured with Balens. I am a registered hypnotherapist with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and I am a licenciate member of the Register of Evidence-Based Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (REBHP) as well as being a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and a PruHealth Approved Hypnotherapist.
5) What are your practice opening hours?
Appointments are available Monday-Friday from 9am to 9pm and some Saturdays from 9am – 12 noon. However, it may be possible to be seen outside these hours if necessary.
